Wallet

A wallet is a tool that allows users to store, manage, and interact with their cryptocurrency holdings securely.

What is a Wallet?

A wallet is a digital or physical tool used to store and manage cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. It holds the private and public keys required to perform transactions on the blockchain network. Although it does not hold actual currency like a physical wallet, it serves as the interface to access and manage cryptocurrency stored on the blockchain.

Cryptocurrency wallets come in various forms, such as software wallets (mobile apps or desktop software), hardware wallets (physical devices), and even paper wallets. Software wallets are typically connected to the internet and are easier to access, while hardware wallets offer more security by keeping private keys offline.

To use a wallet, a person inputs their private key to authorize transactions, while the public key is shared with others to receive cryptocurrency. Wallets provide a user-friendly way to monitor balances and send and receive digital currency securely.
